Today ByTenants is a read-only site: there are no accounts and nothing to post. These short terms cover that. Full terms replace them before sign-in opens.

What the site is

ByTenants shows public records about New York rental buildings, taken from New York City’s open data. It is information to help you research a building. It is not legal advice, not an inspection, and not a statement about any person.

The records are the city’s

We show what the city publishes, refreshed nightly, and explain how on the methodology page. We work to show it accurately, but the city’s records can be late, incomplete or wrong, and so can our reading of them. The site is provided as it is, without any promise that it is complete or error-free. Check anything important with the agency that keeps the record before you rely on it.

Using the site

Read, link to and share any page. Automated access is fine at a reasonable rate; please do not load the site so heavily that it slows down for everyone else, or try to reach parts of it that are not public.

Corrections

If we have shown something wrongly, write to disputes@bytenants.com. We fix our own mistakes quickly and say what we changed.
